So what do –Tommy Chong ,Stephen DeAngelo (CEO of Oakland’s Harborside Health Center super- marijuana collective and celebrated personality of the Discovery Channel’s new medical cannabis (seed)-based reality TV series “Weed Wars”) .. or to libertarians like Jim Gray, the former Orange County Ca., Superior Court judge, or U.S. Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) and California State Assemblyman Chris Norby R-Fullerton)….common sense for human dignity!
​While the last few months of 2011 have not been happy times in the marijuana growingtrenches as the DOJ made overt threats to seize property being used for “illegallycultivating cannabis” (prop 215) or dispensing medical cannabis, going as far as to threaten many different media organizations … put them on notification that they could be prosecuted for placing ads for collectives. Throw into the mix the recent confusing court case from Long Beach, which appeared to offer municipalities with a expedient justification for outlawing storefront medical marijuana dispensaries shops.
Well boy’s and girl’s its 2012 … and this is where the chicken crosses the road– the 4th quarter of 2011 saw a major swing in the NORML –ly stoned and apathetic voter base of marijuana recreational use supporters for the “Regulate Marijuana Like Wine Initiative” is growing like a weed … as to be expected. The “Regulate Marijuana Like Wine Initiative”  is currently scheduled for this November’s election (REGISTER TO VOTE 2012) and if passed, would successfully legalize marijuana at the state level for leisurely use by adults.
In the intervening time, polls directed by the Gallop group guesstimate somewhere north of 62% of fine upstanding American citizens approve of treating cannabis seeds / marijuana like California’s soon to be “other export”–Wine.  Finally — an idea that I have personally been screaming from ever mountain top I can climb. This WILL not only rejuvenate Ca.’s anemic business environment, and rebuild their currently failing economy:  it effectively turn marijuana into California’s # 1 legal cash crop –thus taxable—it does not take a rocket scientists here folks, prison over population decreases, tax revenue increases . As observed in the Netherlands, the world’s contemporary highest terminus for cannabis travelers around the world—as current policies to ban non-Dutch residents from having access to cannabis starting January 2013, the timing seems ideal for passing that honor on to California …the Golden State Baby – Down, but not burnt-out!
